Last Friday was the five month birthday of The Hegemonist. Coincidentally, it’s also the day we broke 100 facebook fans. I took the time to go ahead and do something I’ve been meaning to do for about two months. Take a look at http://thehegemonist.com. I’ve created a wordpress blog so that I can use trackbacks, plugins, and more. I’m still working on a plan for those of you who subscribe via rss; if anybody has any good ideas on how to migrate them, contact me. In any case, take a look around the updated site and let me know what you think! I promise not to do this every five months…
Happy Five Months, The Hegemonist!

I’m so glad you have switched over to wordpress! I think you will find it a much friendlier and more versatile system.
Congrats on five months- definitely going strong!
Question: This new wordpress format doesn’t seem to like anonymous comments, as it prompts the user to leave an email address. Will you change the formatting to make make it anonymous/pseudonym-friendly like you had in blogger.com, or is this what wordpress provides? Thank you!
Dear Hegemon,
Very interesting that thehegemonist.com and http://www.thehegemonist.com point to two different web sites.
When I first looked for your blog (pre-wordpress) I noticed that I had to include the www in the URL. Now I dont have to… but it goes to a different web site.
Are you maintaining both sites indefinitely?
Regards,
Mamuka Khachapuridze
@Mamuka - No, I’m getting rid of the blogspot address, but I’m still trying to get the permalinks to work (the technical side isn’t really my strong suit). We’ll see.
@MR - Thanks for the tip, I think I’ve made anonymous commenting possible again, but only time will solve all of the kinks.
@Kelsey - It’s definitely more versatile! I’m not sure about friendlier, but I suppose there’s always a learning curve in these things…
I love the new Wordpress layout. I currently have a Blogger and am thinking about switching over. Is there a streamlined was to transfer all my Blogger material over to Wordpress, or did this take you hours upon hours upon hours? :) Thanks! Keep up the great writing, I have your page bookmarked on my Mac!
@Kristi, Thanks so much! Transferring te information took about five minutes. It couldn’t have been easier. The trouble was correcting the permalinks. I had to change the settings, then go through each post and correct the length and remove articles (the, a) from each one. Also I had to deal with the www issue Mamuka pointed out. Also, I think I’ve lost my old feed subscribers unless they decide to come back and add me. We’ll see!
By the way, you might want to consider this plugin as a way to allow commenters to be notified when a reply is posted: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/
